In east Honolulu, on the western slope of Koko Head, basks one of the most desirable areas on Oahu. Local legend tells of voyagers from the Pacific islands first landing here. The neighborhood is quiet, with gently sloping streets, plenty of coconut palms swaying in the sunlight, and captivating views of Diamond Head, Maunalua Bay, the Ko'olau Mountains and Koko Crater. Portlock Beach is a hidden gem; a favorite of local fishermen, surfers, stand-up paddlers, and families looking for easy access to the ocean, but without the crowds.
